The Rooster

Hola familia y amigos!

First week (and a half) down here at the CCM! Crazy to think that I have only been here for a week it feels like forever. My apologies if this email has some capitalization or punctuation errors, these Spanish keyboards are a little more difficult to type on, haha.

Alright so first things first, I'm not gonna be that missionary that sugar coats everything, this week was really hard. Adjusting to being a missionary and learning a new language is not an easy thing to do!! Although its been super hard, I am growing so much and I have seen the Lords hand in my life SO many times in just a short amount of time. Also I got to talk to my family today which is the BIGGEST blessing.

MY NEW FRIENDS:
I have a really awesome district. There are four Elders and eight Sisters. Everyone is so different and comes from so many different places. But it's so amazing to see how we all can comes together because we all have the same desire to teach people about the gospel and because we all love Jesus Christ!!! I don't have any pictures of them yet because we can only take pictures on pday and for two hours on Sunday so I will send more next week. My companions name is Hermana LaChance, she is the BEST! We get along super well and push each other to be better! God really knows what we need.

THE GOOD STUFF:
So we have a lot of devotionals and workshops here that are so amazing! Here is just a few of the things that I am learning and working on.
  • This is a gospel of transformation!! It's not about being perfect from the start, we need to find perfection in Christ and not through the worlds standards. It is a slow process, but it is so worth it! We can do anything with the help of the Savior
  • Heavenly Father knows us and he loves us!! I have had so many experiences this week where I have felt Gods love for me specifically and where I was able to feel his love for all of his children.
  • Heavenly Father hears our prayers and knows the desires of our hearts. We can pray to him anytime and he will give us exactly what we need. Sometimes we want it fast but we have to trust him because when we ask, he will answer.
  • Always keep an eternal perspective! Our trials and afflictions will be but a small moment. Just keep pushing through, we can do hard things!
  • We are never alone!!!!
  • NEVER GIVE UP.
FUN STUFF:So my dorm/apartment is right next to the wall of the CCM and the window in my room is facing the street (yes, the outside world), so trying to fall asleep the first week was quite the adventure. First of all, people here in the city love to blast their music and have concerts at 11 at night. There are also birds that chirp and make noise all night long!!! There is one rooster in particular that sounds like a grown man screaming. He crows ALL NIGHT LONG! Last night we didn't hear him, so I'm hoping that he went to heaven to be with his other rooster friends who will appreciate his screaming. There is also a guy who sells tamales at 10 at night so every night we hear him turn on his microphone and say, "TAMALE TAMALE TAMALE TAMALE TAMALE TAMALE," its quite the adventure hahaha.

Con amor,
Hermana Kmetzsch
