Ocean Breeze

Hello Everyone!

This week was great! The weather is starting to cool down and we have that nice ocean breeze :)

THE GOOD STUFF:
So we have an investigator named Gary who is getting baptized this next Saturday! He loves everything about the church but he has mentioned to us before that he left other churches because he had to pay tithing and told us that he has a lot of doubts about that subject. So we have been a little nervous about teaching him about tithing. So yesterday we met at the church with some members to teach him about tithing. The members ended up being 1 hour late so we decided to start the lesson without them. We taught him the whole lesson and asked him how he was feeling after, he said that he was feeling good but that he still had doubts and needed to pray A LOT before he could get baptized. I was feeling a little nervous and then our sweet member friends showed up to the church. They are converts of about 1 year and they just got sealed in the temple! We asked them to bear their testimony about their experience with tithing. They then shared the SWEETEST testimony about their struggle with money and how tithing has blessed their lives. The spirit was so strong and the lesson was just perfect. After we finished, I asked Gary how he felt and he said that after that, he felt 100x better. He said he still needed to pray but that he thinks he is good to be baptized on the 7th!!

I realized through this the importance of bearing testimony and sharing what we know to be true. There is so much power in a testimony. People can criticize books, statistics, movies and any other material thing, but no one can take away your testimony and what you KNOW to be true. It's so important that we share what we know because we never know how it is going to bless someone else's life.

THE FUN STUFF:
So funny story from this week. We were teaching one of our investigators named Olbis. We were teaching him on the 20th of November and he has a baptismal date for the 21st of December. We were talking about his date to make sure that he still feels ready to get baptized that day and he says, "What's the date today?" and we said the 20th. He looked very uncomfortable and moved around in his seat and mumbled, "Oh okay tomorrow then...." The poor guy thought he was getting baptized the next day!!! We explained that it was in one month and he felt  A LOT better. But it was pretty funny we were laughing a lot.

Con amor,
